A Little Altered Something!!

Tabitha challenged us last Monday at Sisterhood of Scrap, to alter something!

I had this jewelry box insert lying about, and deceided to turn it into a wee shadow box for my scrappy space!!

The little box of scissors on the bottom right, was actually my Grandnma's and it does have the scissors in it!

The stamps were ones I have collected from the girls from SOS who have sent me stuff over the years!!

This was so fun to do!

If you want to alter a little something, do so, and then post it at Sisterhood of Scrap!!

SOS is turning 4 Soon!!

The Sisters are turning 4 next week at the Sisterhood of Scrap and I thought I would throw a little surprise pre-birthday party for the gals!!!!

I am challenging them to do a l/o, card, ATC, Arch, or altered item for each letter of the month of April!

In one project use something on you project with the letter "A".
In the second project use the "P",
in the third use the "R",
in the fourth use "I",
and in the fifth use the "l".

That is a total if 5 projects!!

DPB!!

Last night at Sisterhood of Scrap we had our monthly one hour crop, and I must say there were some awesome submissions for this!!

Kerri has been teasing me about my awersion to using DPB's for scrapping, so I thought I would make this layout in honour of that!!

For those of you who don't know, I really get freaked out with using buttons that are not made from a scrapping manufacture! You know the ones, they come off clothes from items people no longer wear, Dead People Buttions! There is a store here in town that has a 2X2X2 foot bin that is full of these!! It really does freak me out!!! Yucck!!! Anyways... this one is for you Kerri!!!

This layout was made for Carla's challenge this month
over at Sisterhood of Scrap!
Because march is National Quilt Month, we needed to make a layout representing this, as well as use stitching of sorts!

A couple of summers ago, my dear son and a couple of his friends bought a ton of stretchy orange and blue material to make t-shirts!! Now, you have to realize, these are 17 year old boys who have never sewed anything in their lives!! They spent the afternoon, cutting, sewing, and occasionally swearing but they did it!!!
Gotta love teenage boys!!!

March Holiday Challenges at SOS!

If you haven't checked out the March Holiday Challenges at Sisterhood of Scrap, you really must!!! There are some awesome challenges and a prize for someone to win!!

Here are a couple I have done this past week!

First is Colleen's Challenge. Here is what she said
"First Day of Spring challenge to me says windy days, so that means something flying, I chose a kite but want to see what you come up with. Also green grass starts showing up so your layout should be mostly green and of course the animals like to get outside as well so throw in some kind of animal and you know me, it is going to have to have some flowers as well.

Have fun and think spring."

So here is mine... a layout of my dog when she gets into trouble!!!

Another awesome challenge was from Chris. Here is what she wants...
"March 11th is WORSHIP OF TOOLS DAY!
Well to celebrate this Day I want you to use your tools!!!!
USE your stamps, your inks, your border punches...as many as you can!!!!
You need to use a t least 5 different tools!".

I am a Guest Designer at Crop Suey Today!! (and a prize)

I want to say a HUGE thanks to Mia at Crop Suey for asking me to be a guest designer there today! {{HUGS}} I am honoured!!!

I am also a bit PANICED!!!!!!! Yup... so much so, I created this layout just for her!!

I have been thinking about who I am in terms of my scrapping lately.
What style do I have?
What do I love to do best?
Where am I going to go with this obsession of mine?

I haven't many answers for these questions, but I can say... I am kind of all over the place with it!!! LOL!!!! I do love detail!! Like a freind of mine once said... "Life is in the details!". And because of Mia.. I am not afraid to mist!!! (Thanks Mia!!!).

So, you be the judge... what kind of scrapper do you see in me??

Altered Tray!!!

Well... thanks to the gals at Scrap Your Stash, I have finally finished this tray for my hubby!! It was suppose to be for last Christmas, but he will get it for his birthday at the end of March!!

The Learning Factory in Brantford, one of my favorite stores around here, had a DT call, I applied, and I made it!!! I love all the product in Joanne's store... all my faves... Graphic 45, Webster's Pages, October Afternoon, Echo Park, Prima, and many more!!!

I picked up my kit a couple of weeks ago, and it was filled with Basic Grey's Curio patterned papers, some Zva bling, Prima flowers, and some extra goodies!!

Here is what I made for this month! We could only use what was in the kit, and I must say.. that was a challenge!!!!!

This first layout was made using a lot of techniques I learnt from my good friend Maggi at Sisterhood of Scrap!

This next one is a double pager.. very simple but I think it turned out ok!
It has been years since I did a double pager!! Way too much real estate if you ask me!! LOL!

With the left over scraps and such, I made 5 note cards:

Also.. a bit of information.. Joanne has recently bought another LSS in Kitchener, and is definitly closer to me, and was already one of my faves... The Scrapping Bug. There is an on-line store at this one, it is Canadian, and has fantastic servies!! I know she is geting a ton of new stuff in too!!!

Lindy's Challenge

Today I had the pleasure of working on Lindy's challenge from the February challenges at Sisterhood of Scrap.She had a sketch we could follow from Pagemaps, as well as having to add one of Maggi's challenges, PLUS paper tearing!!! And that wasn't all... after the layout we had to use the scraps to make a card!! Talk about making me work!!!

I used some Jillibean Soup, Atomic Soup paper I have had, and it just felt right for doing this layout of my ds Stuart!!!

"Let It Snow"

Lovin' this layout of my ds catching snowflakes!! He was about 8 years old, and couldn't believe the size of the snowflakes falling down. He had never seen snow until that year, as we had been living in Egypt. He was amazed!!! He still does not do up his jacket!!!

Mia challenged us to use at least 3 out of the following 5 items on your scrappy project/layout/card or whatever you choose to do!

When I was in Medicine Hat the end of September visiting family, my dear brother took me to the racetrack... his passion! He showed me his 1968 Barracuda, and actually raced too! I was so proud of him!!! Love ya Gary!!

This past month has been a busy one! My Mom was diagnosed with cancer and I ws in Alberta the end of September for her and for my nieces wedding. My scrapping has been on hold but I am back at it!!

This layout is dedicated to Mom, who starts her radiation for lung cancer next week.
I know she will do fine, she is a fighter and is a strong women.

1975 Honda moped

I am not sure the heck my ds is thinking about... he is moving out in a couple of weeks, and has bought a 1975 Honda Moped to get around on! I am not sure what the heck he will do in the winter.. but that is his problem!!!

my un-forgetable- birthday...
was my 50th that my family forgot! Yes ... they did. So, I went out and bought myself my gold diamond and saphhire bracelet I've wanted for years... and in fact, I bought 2! I couldn't deceide between the gold and the white gold one, so I bought them both. I also happened to spot this gorgeous ring to match... so I bought that too! My husband still doesn't know to this day I did this... serves him right! Happy 50th Helen!

Madison's Album

Well... I have been busy making an album for a dear friends' daughter who turned 13 yesterday! What a challenge this was. Madison received the album yesterday and cried her eyes out... "This is the most beuatiful thing anyone one has done for me" she said. I was thrilled she loved it!!

Finally found my MOJO!!!

It has been a couple of weeks since I have scrapped! Seems I was so busy in the garden and what not, I lost my mojo!
I did get a couple of layouts done this month... just because. They are not for any challenges or what not, they were 2 sketches I found from my friend Mia at SOS and just wanted to do them.

This layout was a fun one to do! My Mom use to sell "Fashion Frocks" when we were younger. (This is an oxymoron in itself, but that is another story!). These 2 dresses were ones she had, that my sister and I got. I love my necklace too! It was a big plastic heart that opened on the back, and inside was a little doll! How cute!!

This next one is of my dear Stuart as a little guy taking some of his first steps with his big brother George! Oh, what I would do to have them litle again!

The Ant Philosophy

I saw this today at Kind over Matter, and I just had to share it!

The Ant Philosophy
by Jim Rohn

Over the years I've been teaching kids about a simple but powerful concept - the ant philosophy. I think everybody should study ants. They have an amazing four-part philosophy, and here is the first part: ants never quit. That's a good philosophy. If they're headed somewhere and you try to stop them; they'll look for another way. They'll climb over, they'll climb under, they'll climb around. They keep looking for another way. What a neat philosophy, to never quit looking for a way to get where you're supposed to go.

Second, ants think winter all summer. That's an important perspective. You can't be so naive as to think summer will last forever. So ants are gathering in their winter food in the middle of summer.

An ancient story says, "Don't build your house on the sand in the summer." Why do we need that advice? Because it is important to think ahead. In the summer, you've got to think storm. You've got to think rocks as you enjoy the sand and sun.

The third part of the ant philosophy is that ants think summer all winter. That is so important. During the winter, ants remind themselves, "This won't last long; we'll soon be out of here." And the first warm day, the ants are out. If it turns cold again, they'll dive back down, but then they come out the first warm day. They can't wait to get out.

And here's the last part of the ant philosophy. How much will an ant gather during the summer to prepare for the winter? All that he possibly can. What an incredible philosophy, the "all-that-you-possibly-can" philosophy.

Wow, what a great philosophy to have - the ant philosophy. Never give up, look ahead, stay positive and do all you can.
